Reading PM order detail for suborder processing

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a possibility to find out if a PM order is created as suborder (with IW36) by checking if a superior order is assigned.

Based on this assignment, the dependency on general maintenance task list needs to behave differently.

For example, when creating a maintenance order we assign a default labour duration based on a Variant Table. But labour is only to be defaulted for superior orders. When creating a suborder via IW36, the dependency should not fill the default labour.

I know it is possible by using a Variant Function that would read for example table AFKO and analyse field content MAUFNR.

But I was looking for solution by only using Action or Constraint dependency. I created already a characteristic with reference to table AFKO and field MAUFNR and trying to analyse if field is empty or not. But apparently the characteristic is not filled. What can I do to read the AFKO table and fill the characteristic?

Or is the only solution via Variant Function?

Thanks in advance
