Our client is in manufacturing industry and it has several manufacturing plants across the country. Machines which required for its manufacturing process are owns, rents from external vendors or borrows from its others plants.
A plant would create only its owned equipment in SAP. therefore maintenance process could be done.
but when it comes to borrowed or rented equipment..there is a problem to create maintenance orders (spare parts have to be issued from 'current' plant).
Its possible to create maintenance orders for other plant's equipment since they are already in SAP but then there is a problem with Settlement rule. Because settlement rule created with equipment's cost center(belongs to machines own plant) but client wants to settle cost to 'current' plant.
And for machines rented from external vendors...
- We are not creating such machines in system. because they are on rent and rental period would be few months
- but spare parts for maintenance would issue from 'current' plant
Client wants to track spare parts cost per machine irrespective of whether it is owned,rented or borrowed.
Current Plant = Plant which the equipment(machine) currently residing in.
